St. Lawrence Seaway - Zuiderdam - Canada/New England - June 26-27, 2025

These two days were lazy days where I was forced to disconnect. I slept in a bit more than usual for me. I ate breakfast in the Lido each morning because the main dining room didn’t open until 8. One morning I took my breakfast outside to the aft pool where I could watch the wake as I sipped my coffee.

I sat in quiet lounges where family always seemed to find me. I spent time on my parents huge aft balcony drinking wine and looking for whales, birds, and beautiful scenery as we cruised the Saint Lawrence Seaway. The North Atlantic Right Whales are an endangered species that they monitor closely with the assistance of helicopters and other boats in this area and when they are spotted, they communicate with the ships cruising the seaway to enforce a mandatory slow speed.

We enjoyed lunches and dinners in the main dining room. At lunch one day, we even snagged a window seat with an aft view of the wake.

I had my photo taken a couple times this week by the ship’s photographers so spent some time sifting through those photos to decide if I wanted to buy any.

And I enjoyed quiet evenings on the promenade even when it was a bit chilly. The lightweight sweatshirt I bought on Prince Edward Island really came in handy these days.

Dressy night the first sea day

I noticed birds were circling the ship after dinner the first sea night so I put on a fleece over my red dress and headed out with my camera.

These benches were my favorite places to sit on the promenade.  The loungers got put away in the evenings so they were often the only option and that is when I was so often out there.

During the day one day, I spent some time on the loungers of the promenade.  It was quite chilly these two days and so the blankets they had out for passengers came in handy.

This was the last night of the first cruise so the ship was busy with people packing suitcases and getting in their last drinks and activities.  But for us, it was just the halfway point, although that second week would go by so fast.  The next stop is Quebec City.
