Atlanta Botanical Garden - Saturday, March 19, 2022

It's that time of year again where the Atlanta Botanical Garden puts on such an amazing display with all their tulips and spring flowers.  So I decided to take a little road trip.   It makes for a very early morning as the best part of the day is that first hour they are open.  They open at 9am eastern time, which is 8am my time, and it is almost a 2.5 hour drive.  You get the idea...

I'll let my photos speak for themselves.

I love Dale Chihuly's glass sculptures and this is probably my favorite of all of his.

These next photos are from the Orchid Daze exhibit the Atlanta Botanical Garden puts on each spring in their conservatory.

A bit of an abstract photo, looking straight down from above on a colorful plant.

Back outside for some more tulips....

A flower with a bit of flair even at the end of its life!

Lady Tulips - I don't think I've ever seen any quite like it.  Their petals (at least some of them) are bright red on the outside but white on the inside.

Lady Tulips again

I always look for Trillium in any garden I go to this time of year - such a unique flower!

When I walked past this Dale Chihuly sculpture a second time the sun had lit it up like a lightbulb - it was so glorious!

I then walked over to the wooded area where they had completely re-done this forest garden and installed a new Dale Chihuly glass sculpture in a pond.

I made my way past the Cascade Garden and the Earth Goddess just to get a look at her when she is in progress.  By Mother's Day, she will be covered in beautiful flowers and greens and the fountain will be full again with the fountain running.  She is amazing to see.

By that point, I had spent three hours and walked the entire gardens and I wasn't ready to go yet.  So I sat down on a bench and took in the sights and smells of a now quite busy garden.  Next to me was a pot of beautiful poppies, tulips, and other spring flowers and a lady bug exploring one of the poppies.
