Today we arrived in Cozumel, Mexico sometime after 9:00 a.m. and the ship was cleared by about 10:00 a.m. We were the only ship docked at the Punta Langosta which is right near downtown San Miguel de Cozumel. Two Royal Caribbean ships (Symphony of the Seas and Adventure of the seas) were docked further away at the International Pier.
Being the only ship at our dock I knew would give me a chance to get some great photos plus, it is so rare to get docked at the downtown pier so we decided to get off the ship to walk around a little before lunch.
Shortly after we returned, our Retreat Host, Suren set up the lunch on our balcony we had asked him to arrange. The food was very good and the atmosphere couldn't be beat.
The afternoon was spent on the balcony enjoying the breeze, the activity in port, and a drink or two. Here is a Tropitini I managed to carry up four flights of stairs without spilling (I might have had some practice this week...).
Then this beautiful rainbow appeared shortly after we noticed a brief rainstorm.
Since we don't have a set time for dining, we were able to enjoy a long afternoon on the balcony and watch us leave Cozumel around 7:00 p.m. All aboard was at 6:30 p.m. and at 6:29 p.m. we watched a couple of pier runners - a male carrying a female on his back. They walked onto the gangway right at 6:30 so I can't call them late but they did get applause from the crew down at the dock.
By the time we headed down to listen to some music before dinner, I had accumulated a few (mostly) empty drink glasses. Between the specialty coffees, Perrier, martinis, wine, and other drinks, I've been making good use of the premium drink package.
We discovered a really mellow singer/guitarist playing in Cellar Masters, Florencia Horta that was really enjoyable to listen to.
Luminae was still pretty busy when we walked in about 8:20 p.m. but soon started clearing out. Unfortunately, Dancing Town was playing in the Rendezvous Lounge across the way. They are a very loud, high energy band and their music carries over into any venue near them, including Luminae. But the incredible service and really good food more than made up for it.
Before the first course, they give you a palate cleanser. Today was just a few berries with the tiniest fork. Another day was a dish with some fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and caviar. Another day it was something with beets, capers and a little piece of smoked trout. (I wish I had thought to take photos of one of them because they were so beautiful.)
