The last day of the cruise is always a bit sad but we made the most of this at sea day. After a quick bite to eat at the Park Cafe in Central Park we took a tour of Central Park. It was amazing to hear about all the care that goes into maintaining such a beautiful park in the middle of the ocean.
Then the Captain and top officers held a question and answer session. The ship is 1,188 feet long, 215.5 feet wide, and 227,000 gross tons. It holds 6,780 passengers and 2,200 crew. It is composed of 7 neighborhoods, has 24 passenger elevators and 16 passenger decks. At full throttle it reaches a max speed of 25.1 knots with a fuel consumption of 45 feet per gallon of diesel. There are 2 evaporation systems and 3 reverse osmosis systems which turn enough sea water into fresh water to more than handle the needs of the ship.
We decided to check out the main dining room for lunch. They have both a menu you can order from and a buffet. The buffet includes a stir fry station, a huge table of fruit, and the most beautiful dessert selection we had seen all cruise.
We went to the afternoon show of Grease. The actors/singers/dancers were all very talented and it was a fun show to watch.
Dinner in the main dining room was fantastic this final night. We really had the best service we have had in a long time across the whole ship and our main dining room waiters were no exception.
After dinner, we had the sad task of packing our suitcases as they had to be outsider our door by 10:00 p.m. After everything was packed, we went out, had a couple martinis by my favorite bartender in the Wonderland, and then enjoyed the classical guitar player in Central Park. It was a lovely way to end the day.
