Cozumel, Mexico - December 8, 2017

Today's port was Cozumel, Mexico, an island not too far from Cancun on the mainland.  We didn't arrive until 10:00 a.m. which gave us time to have a leisurely breakfast in the dining room which was very good.  I had special ordered some gluten free pancakes even for a treat.

Our excursion left the pier at 11:00 a.m. and so we walked off the ship at about 10:30 a.m. and were glad for the extra time as they feed all passengers from two ships (ours and the Regal Princess) through a long, narrow crowded shop which took some time.

Regal Princess (as we were coming in to our dock)

Allure of the Seas (parked at a nearby dock) (The MCS Opera and a Norwegian Ship were also in Cozumel today, just parked at the downtown docks.)

There's nothing like Christmas in the Caribbean!

Our excursion was run by a company connected with Club Cozumel Caribe which meant that we had the complimentary use of all of the facilities at this beach club (changing rooms, lockers, showers, pool, beach, tequila tasting and tours, etc.).

The first part of our excursion was paddleboarding.  Unfortunately, it was a bit windy making this challenging.  However, I was able to get up and stand on my board for a lot longer than I thought.  But I couldn't row hard enough to go against the current and so quickly became one of four (my husband included) who were separated from the group and continued drifting further away.  It was a bit frustrating that one of the guides did not give us any assistance, tips, or stay with us.  There were two guides and considering a third of the group was separated, you would think they would have been able to have one of the guides hang back with us.  All that said, eventually they did come back to get us and rescue us on jet skis.

During our short break before the next part of our excursion, we were watching some hummingbirds and other birds.

The next piece of our excursion was snorkeling along the shore.  So we geared up and jumped in the water.  The snorkel portion was shorter than I would have liked (maybe because paddleboarding went long?) but there were some really pretty fish that swam right up to you for a neat experience.

After snorkeling, we had the option to head back to the ship right away or spend some time on the beach, pool area, or take a tequila tour.  We decided to do the tequila tour and tasting before heading back.  It was a very short tour followed by tasting of 4 different tequilas.  The tequilas were very good and if it wasn't such a pain to bring back alcohol, I would have purchased some.

We then had to wait about 20 minutes before we could get a taxi back to the port.  At the port we walked into a few shops in hopes of finding a new dress for me but didn't have any luck.

Back on board, in the evening we listened to Macio's PG comedy routine and then Gina Brillon's 18+ comedy routine.  Both were better comedians than the two we listened to earlier in the cruise and so we really enjoyed them.

Then we tested our luck again with the raffle and were unlucky.
