On this day we visited Frederiksted, St. Croix. She ship arrived and was cleared by about 8:00 a.m. but sailing straight into the rising sun, I figured it wouldn't be great lighting to photograph or video the arrival so we slept in just a little bit. We had breakfast in the Crown Lounge and then were off the ship by about 9:00 a.m.

On the pier, looking towards shore, the red structure is Fort Frederik. |
For $5 per person, you can tour the fort which we enjoyed.
|
Paul got sent to solitary confinement. |

A view of the town from the upper levels of the fort |

Should we be concerned? |
After touring the fort, we headed the opposite way of all the crowds to walk a ways down the beach. In total, we ended up walking over four miles.
|
Ruddy Turnstone - We see them often, no matter where we are traveling. |
|
At times it rained - here you see the ship disappearing into a rain storm. |
We got a little bird watching in when we came across this tree with orange flowers that had a lot of activity.

Back in town, we came across this cute Supreme Court Building |
We were back on the ship for lunch and to spend some time relaxing before sail away. Our sail away was delayed a bit because of a crew medical emergency. An ambulance came down the pier to retrieve someone. We learned later in the cruise the crew member is doing well.

I think I have been on the Jolly Mon (this catamaran) years ago, but I had always assumed that was on St. Thomas. |
Once we did pull away from the pier, we turned around and headed right into the beautiful sunset.
We spent some time before dinner at Boleros (a Cuban themed bar) listening to our favorite soothing guitarist, Jorge Garcia.
Dinner was A Taste of Mexico and the salmon dish was one of the best of the cruise. Whatever chefs they have in charge of fish and desserts are clearly the stars of this ship.
