This was our down day. We had booked two nights at this Clear Sky Resort and planned to stay on the property. Breakfast was in the restaurant in the main dome. I enjoyed avocado toast with an egg on top and sipped coffee as we looked out at the mountains around us.
After breakfast, my Dad and I went to check out the two hikes on the property. We started at the one labeled strenuous, Point David Trail. The description stated that it was 1.75 miles long and climbed 371 feet of elevation. It was a straight up climb over loose rocks and dirt so we didn't make it very far but I did get a few good views of the property before retracing my steps.
Then we walked over to the Spires Trail which was on the other side of the property so gave us a chance to walk past more of the domes. The Spires Trail was labeled as easy. The description indicated it was 0.7 miles long and had an elevation gain of 75 feet. It criss-crossed over a horse trail that I think they use in the warmer months.

On our walk back to our dome, I stopped at the main dome (the largest one in the photo below) to buy a latte at the coffee bar. On my way there, I kept hearing the Bushtit, a bird that so far had eluded me as it sung its song from deep within bushes without ever showing itself. I tried to find it but without success. We later went out to try and find some birds but had no success.
That afternoon we enjoyed wine and snacks in our dome while we looked out at the view. It was a lovely afternoon. Dinner was at the restaurant in the large dome and it did not disappoint. This where I had some of the best food of the trip.
