Sunrise was beautiful this morning! Tidal pools had formed off to the left so that is the direction we went.

We saw several of these puffer fish that had washed up to shore (and had been out of water too long to save). This one was all puffed up! |

The Island Inn has a webcam so I pulled up the website and tried to take a screenshot of my Dad and I on camera! |
I had one last lunch at Gramma Dots at the Marina and so took one last selfie on the island. And then I said my goodbyes and headed out over the causeway in my own car to start the trek home. The time went by way too fast as seems to always be the case when you are on vacation.
I stopped at the
Hampton Inn in Lake City for an overnight on my way home. They had two charging stations - one specific to Teslas and one generic one. I really appreciated that they installed these chargers in the back away from a main entrance so there wasn't any temptation for gas cars to park here and block the spots. By morning I had a full charge and was ready to continue on.
On the way home that last day, my last charging stop was outside of a grocery store so I picked up some fresh fruits and veggies to start my week. I also pulled into a car wash to clean off all the salt from the ocean and was home before 1:30 p.m.
Round-trip, I drove a total of 1,484 miles and averaged an efficiency of 4.04 miles/kWh. I had free charging at one hotel. Another hotel had charging available but for a fee which saved me time but not money. Otherwise, I relied on superchargers. I spent a total of $103 on charging. The only toll I paid was the $6 toll to get on Sanibel Island.
As I sit back and reflect on this trip now that I am home, it is really clear to me that this is exactly what I needed. The connection with nature and the connection with people I love have been so important in my healing journey and this trip combined both. It also is really empowering to continue to successfully navigate travel on my own and is helping me figure out who I can become as a single person.
