Last weekend we traveled to the Twin Cities with my parents and my sister and her family.
Saturday we left early and enjoyed lunch at Ted's Pizza in Menominee, WI. They have excellent pizza and I highly recommend it to anyone who is in the area. Then we got to Bloomington, MN, checked into the Quality Inn & Suites and spent the afternoon relaxing.
On Sunday, we headed to my favorite zoo, the MN Zoo in Apple Valley. This zoo is always evolving and it is designed around themes. They had redone the entrance to make room for a new penguin exhibit. From the zoo we stopped at El Loro in Burnsville for lunch. It was nice to be able to get good Mexican food for a change. After lunch, we relaxed at the hotel and took the kids swimming. My husband and I then had a chance to catch up with some old friends over dinner.
Monday, we spent the day at the Mall of America after a quick trip to Minnehaha Falls. We visited the Sea Life Aquarium which had been redone since we were last there. They have made some really neat changes that I think make it more interesting to people of all ages including small children. We also did some shopping and were hoping to find some unique Christmas gifts but were disappointed. We ate lunch at Kokomo's Island Cafe, a great Caribbean restaurant.
