This morning I was up early, like usual. I had set an alarm for 6:00 a.m. just in case I slept later than normal but was awake about 5:30 a.m. I got ready for the day and packed up all my stuff and then headed down for the 7:00 a.m. breakfast. I was a little worried about time this morning but it turns out I had plenty. I even had a few minutes to relax in my room after breakfast before I decided to head out and try to beat the next batch of rain. I had a seven block walk to the train station. My train left at 9:10 a.m. but if I wanted to check mu large suitcase, I needed to hand it over by about 8:10.

| My train is on the far left. This is the start of the line so it had been sitting there since the night before when they finished the southbound route. |
 |
| I got a window seat and at least so far no seat mate. |

| Am I on a train or a boat? I had forgotten about this long stretch of tracks across Lake Pontchartrain. My train into New Orleans at the start of my trip came in after dark so that's why I didn't notice it then but I've done this route before. |
I found lunch at the train cafe, an Asian noodle salad and a San Pellegrino. We are south of Tuscaloosa and it looks like running about 25 minutes late although there is time between Tuscaloosa and Birmingham to make up that lost time. I think I'm going to end the blog now and publish. I'll come back and edit if there are any drastic updates to these last two hours of my trip but I expect them to be smooth sailing and I'll be home before I know it.
Now, it's time to start planning the next trip. Although I do have some flights and cruises on the books, my hotel apps are currently empty of upcoming stays. I need to fix that. Until next time.
